Management, Planning and execution of business strategy
Taisei Nagae began his career at Mitsui & Co. in 2007 after earning his master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Kyoto University. He started in the electronics logistics business for the Chinese market, and soon expanded his global perspective through an overseas assignment in Russia, where he worked in both St. Petersburg and Moscow.
Over the years, he has led a number of strategic initiatives, including the domestic rollout of a U.S.-based data platform, venture investments in the AI space, and LP investments in U.S. venture capital funds. In 2019, he was seconded to PXiSE Energy Solutions in San Diego, serving as Advisor to the CEO and contributing to the company’s business development and global strategy.
After returning to Japan, he was appointed General Manager of Strategic Planning Dept. of the ICT Business Unit, where he was responsible for developing and overseeing the unit’s overall strategy.
Taisei has been in his current role since Jun. 2025.

京都大学大学院都市環境工学専攻を修了後、2007年に三井物産に入社。中国向けエレクトロニクス物流ビジネスに従事した後、研修員としてロシア（サンクトペテルブルク・モスクワ）に赴任。その後米国製データプラットフォームの国内展開、AI分野でのベンチャー投資、米国VCファンドへのLP投資等を担当し、2019年からPXiSE Energy Solutions（在サンディエゴ）にAdvisor to the CEOとして出向。帰国後は戦略企画室長としてICT事業本部の全体戦略を策定。

Hiroki Makiguchi has 20 years of extensive experience in the Dry area of the bioscience industry.
After joining Mitsui Knowledge Industry in 2002, he has supported a wide range of research in terms of bioinformatics with many laboratories from the national universities, independent research and development corporations, pharmaceutical companies, and the R&D departments of food, chemical, and equipment manufacturers throughout Japan. He has co-authored and published widely on the methods developed and systems implemented as a result of these research efforts.
From 2017, he oversaw and expanded the business performance of the company's bioscience division, including cancer genome clinical sequencing and mass spectrometer software development. Later, while working on the development of new businesses, he explored the possibility of an AI drug discovery business with a focus on computational drug discovery, and conducted PoC studies in collaboration with Mitsui & Co. This lead to the establishment of Xeureka.
Seconded to Xeureka from December 2021.

バイオサイエンス業界のDry領域にて20年間の幅広い経験を有する。
2002年三井情報開発株式会社に入社後、国内の多くの国立大学の研究室、独立研究開発法人、製薬企業、食品・化学・装置メーカー等のR&D部門にて、生命情報学の側面から研究を支援。研究成果の共著・発表・開発した手法等のシステム実装・並びにサービス化に至る実績多数。
2017年よりがんゲノムクリニカルシーケンスや質量分析器のSW開発などを含めた同社におけるバイオサイエンス部門を統括し業績拡大。その後、新規事業の構築を手掛ける中で計算創薬を中心としたAI創薬事業を模索、三井物産と連携しPoC等を推進。ゼウレカ社設立に至る。

Ryushi Seo worked at Astellas Pharma for 23 years as a medicinal chemist engaged in drug discovery research. He contributed to multiple drug discovery projects across diverse therapeutic areas, leading to the creation of six development compounds and eight development candidate compounds.
He led the digital transformation of small-molecule drug discovery by designing and implementing an AI-driven drug discovery platform integrating predictive modeling, molecular generation, and data analytics & reporting. He took full ownership of its UI/UX design and implementation. A compound designed using this platform has advanced into clinical trials, demonstrating tangible real-world impact.
His expertise spans medicinal chemistry, combinatorial chemistry, chemoinformatics, and AI-driven drug discovery, built on extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He also holds advanced technical expertise in KNIME and was awarded first place in the KNIME World Competition in 2024.
He joined Xeureka in October 2023 and has served in his current role since April 2024.

アステラス製薬にて23年間、メディシナルケミストとして創薬研究に従事。多様な疾患領域における創薬プロジェクトに携わり、6つの開発化合物および8つの開発候補化合物の創出に貢献。低分子創薬のデジタルトランスフォーメーションを主導し、予測モデル、化学構造生成、データ解析およびレポーティングといった機能を、UI/UXを含めて自ら設計・実装したAI創薬プラットフォームを構築。同プラットフォームから創出された化合物が臨床試験に進むなど、実用段階においても実績を挙げている。
製薬企業において、メディシナルケミストリー、コンビナトリアルケミストリー、ケモインフォマティクス、AI創薬にわたる豊富な実務経験を有する。KNIMEの高度な技術力を有し、2024年開催の世界大会において優勝。

Naoki Shiraishi engaged in the bioinformatics field as a system construction and operations project manager for organizations and research institutes affiliated with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. After that, he was involved in project management for business systems construction in the Middle East, environmental monitoring, and monitoring system construction and operation, He joined Xeureka in August 2023 as Tokyo-1 Senior Technical Manager. Current position from April 2024.

He later transitioned to Dream Incubator Inc. (DI), where he conducted management consulting to Japanese listed companies and investments to startups.
At SmartNews, Inc., he gained diverse experience in the tech industry, including strategy planning, budgeting, monitoring of management indicators, digital ads in the U.S., M&A and partnering.

After graduating from the Graduate School of Science at Hokkaido University (Natural Products Chemistry and Total Synthesis), he worked at Sumitomo Chemical and Preferred Networks, where he was involved in compound design, synthetic route discovery, and computer application development and programming in the fields of insecticides for household use, agrochemicals, and veterinary medicines. At Sumitomo Chemical, he led the invention of two commercialized compounds, which are now widely available in stores. At Preferred Networks, he was involved in the development of an AI-based drug discovery library, as well as the discovery of a COVID-19 Mpro inhibitor and a novel herbicide lead compound.
He received his PhD in Agrochemistry from the Graduate School of Agricultural Science, the University of Tokyo, and a research fellowship in the Department of Chemistry at Stanford University (Justin Du Bois Lab). He received the Pesticide Science Award from the Pesticide Science Society of Japan, the Chemical Technology Award from the Chemical Society of Japan, Microsoft MVP, and Top 100 Vector download ranking, among others.
He is also involved in OSS activities and is committed to Chemistry Development Kit and RDKit.
He joined Xeureka in September 2022.

北海道大学大学院理学研究科（天然物化学、全合成）修了後、住友化学、Preferred Networks社にて、家庭用殺虫剤、農薬、動物用医薬品の分野で化合物設計、合成ルート探索、コンピュータアプリケーション開発・プログラミングに携わる。住友化学では、商品化された2つの化合物の発明を主導し、現在店頭で販売されている。Preferred Networks社では、AIを用いた創薬ライブラリーの開発、COVID-19 Mpro阻害剤および新規除草剤リード化合物の創製に携わる。
その間、東京大学にて博士号（農学）取得、スタンフォード大学化学部（Justin Du Bois研究室）研究員などを経験。日本農薬学会農薬科学賞、日本化学会化学技術賞、Microsoft MVP、VectorダウンロードランキングTOP100などを受賞。
OSS活動にも取り組んでおり、Chemistry Development KitやRDKitにコミットしている。

Seiken Tokura received his Ph.D. from University of Tokyo in 2007 for his work on density functional theory of quantum chemical calculations. He was engaged in in silico drug discovery research at Taisho Pharmaceutical for 15 years, where he was in charge of Ligand-based Drug Design (LBDD), Structure-based Drug Design (SBDD), chemoinformatics and drug discovery research by quantum chemical calculation. He was in charge of software development at a system development company. Implemented a long-range correction method for density functional theory in the quantum chemistry program (GAMESS).
He has been in his current position since October 2023.

Keiichiro Okuyama earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Tohoku University in 2011 through research on the total synthesis of alkaloids. He brings more than 15 years of experience in drug discovery as a medicinal chemist at Astellas Pharma.
He has advanced projects from early discovery through clinical compound creation across CNS disorders, oncology, and immuno-oncology. From 2019 to 2024, he was based in Boston, where he collaborated with academic institutions and a biotech company on global research initiatives.
After returning to Japan, he led lead compound identification for TPD (targeted protein degradation) projects. He joined Xeureka in July 2026.

2011年に東北大学大学院薬学研究科にてアルカロイドの全合成研究で博士（薬学）を取得。アステラス製薬では、メディシナルケミストとして15年以上にわたり創薬研究に従事。中枢疾患、がん、がん免疫などの領域において、初期探索から臨床化合物創出まで幅広い研究ステージで創薬プロジェクトに貢献した。特に、 Hit-to-Leadにおける化合物設計、プロジェクトリードに強みをもつ。2019年から2024年までは米国ボストンに駐在し、アカデミアやバイオテックとのグローバルな共同研究にも携わった。帰国後は、TPD（Targeted Protein Degradation）創薬のプロジェクトにおいて複数のリード化合物創出を主導した。2026年7月、ゼウレカに入社。

Satoshi Ono joined Mitsubishi Kasei in 1990, where he worked on quantum chemical calculations for materials and mechanisms of pharmaceutical action before transitioning to the pharmaceutical division. Following a secondment to the Biomolecular Engineering Research Institute (BERI), he joined Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma. He earned his Ph.D. from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. With over 34 years of experience in research, he has been a driving force in leveraging computational chemistry and molecular design techniques to advance drug discovery projects. He specializes in beyond rule-of-5 (bRo5) molecule conformation analysis using multicanonical molecular dynamics (McMD). Additionally, he served as a leader in collaborative research with international academia, focusing on the relationship between cyclic peptide conformation and membrane permeability, resulting in many publications.
He joined Xeureka in January 2025.

Yoshiaki Tanida joined Fujitsu Laboratories in 1986, where he was involved in various research projects for the development of cutting-edge electronic devices, including XAFS local structure analysis using synchrotron radiation, first-principles band calculations based on DFT (GGA), and Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics, while obtaining his PhD from the University of Tokyo in 2000. He is currently moving in the field of biophysics using large-scale numerical simulations, in the quantitative prediction of standard free energies of ligand-receptor binding based on statistical mechanics. To contribute to establishing first-principles drug discovery/design using only sequence information is of his interest and dream.
He joined Xeureka Inc. in February 2025.

After completing a master’s degree in applied chemistry (specializing in chemical reaction development) at the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, he worked on materials development at a chemical manufacture. In 2025, he earned his Ph.D. from Institute of Science Tokyo with research on compound structure generation of small molecules. His research includes developing molecular optimization methods via generative models such as Transformer and VAE architectures, incorporating considerations of synthetic pathways and target protein binding-pocket structures. In 2023, he won a competition focused on compound exploration using large language models. He joined Xeureka, Inc. in April 2025.

In 2021, Yoshio Nakano obtained a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Kumamoto University, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of biological responses, including pharmacology-based analyses of aging and healthspan. He then served as a Contract Assistant Professor at Tokyo University of Science, engaging in research and education within the fields of statistics and bioinformatics. During this period, he also held a joint appointment as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Statistical Mathematics. He has extensive experience in analyzing diverse life science data utilizing omics analysis and mathematical modeling across various domains, such as infectious disease research, neuroscience, and behavioral science.
He joined Xureka in April 2026.

Rizumu Sasaki joined an IT company as a new graduate, where she was engaged in quality management for financial systems and supported production release operations. After that, she worked in the corporate sales division of a food manufacturer, handling administrative operations. In addition to order management, she was responsible for designing and producing promotional materials for events, as well as customer support. In September 2024, she joined Xeureka and have since been involved in community operations as an administrative member of the Tokyo-1 Division.

Mr. Eiki began his career at Nippon Ciba-Geigy Ltd. (now Novartis Pharma K.K.) in 1979. He joined Bayer Yakuhin, Ltd. in 1994 and was appointed Director and General Manager of the Shiga Plant in 1997. From 2002 to 2014, he served as President and Chairman of the Board.
Throughout his tenure as President and Chairman, Mr. Eiki also held board positions at several industry organizations, including the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA), the Japan Heart Foundation, the Osaka Pharmaceutical Association, the Parenteral Drug Association Japan (PDA Japan), and was an international member of ISPE.
After retiring from Bayer Yakuhin in 2014, Mr. Eiki moved to New Jersey, USA, and joined the ABPS Group, a New York-based consulting firm.
He was appointed as an Advisor to Xeureka Inc. in 2025.
